The Action Dueling World Championship begins today! 32 duelists from all over the world will clash and at the end, the first Action Dueling World Champion will be crowned! The tournament rules are as follows:

1) The tournament is single-elimination. When a duelist reaches 0 life points or surrenders (indicated by placing their palm flat on their deck, tapping out or being judged by the official to be no longer able to continue the duel), they are eliminated from the tournament. If two duelists reach 0 life points within the same chain, they will move on to sudden death overtime, where the next direct attack wins.
2) The Round of 32 and Round of 16 will take place at either 4,000 or 8,000 life points, agreed upon by both duelists and the official at the start of the match. If the duelists cannot agree, the official may decide the starting life point count themselves. From the Round of 8 onwards, all duels will begin at 8,000 points.
3) An Action Field will be chosen by random generation before the beginning of each duel and Action Cards will be spread over the entire field. Duelists may hold one Action Card at a time in their hand. Duelists may physically contact each other within reason while contesting an Action Card. It will be up to the official's judgment what constitutes reasonable physical contact and in the case of overzealous or unprovoked physical contact, they may warn or disqualify the offending contestant.

The Round of 32 and Round of 16 will take place at various locations throughout Domino City, including Duel Academy, that have been furbished with Real Solid Vision systems, courtesy of the Leo Corporation. From the Round of 8 forward, the tournament will take place in the Domino Stadium.

Analysts have been busy since the announcement of the tournament creating profiles and analyzing those confirmed to be in the tournament to try and predict a winner! Here are the two early favorites to win the tournament!

Juudai Yuuki
The Miracle Hero Duelist, referred to by many as the best graduate Duel Academy ever produced, after leaving school, Juudai went on to enjoy success in the pro leagues both as a singles duelist and as the captain of Team Spirit, where he went all the way to the finals of the tournament against Team 5D's. He is recognized as a hero by many here in his current hometown of Domino City and his alma maters of Duel Academy and Duel College for the numerous times he's protected them against supernatural threats. His efforts within the Spirit Arcadia Institute have also fostered positive relationships between humanity and Duel Spirits and the supernaturally inclined throughout the city.

Though he's never been a World Champion, Juudai is still recognized as one of the top duelists in the entire world, despite his early retirement. All analysts expect him to get back into the dueling ring with very little rust.

Strong Ishijima
The former champion of Maiami City, before he voluntarily vacated after losing to Yuya Sakaki in an exhibition duel, Strong Ishijima has been training to improve himself. A native of Maiami City, where Action Dueling was developed and the only duelist in the tournament who has been a long-time Action Dueling champion already. An experienced duelist both in Maiami's dueling scene, which he dominated and in the national dueling scene, his experience makes him a strong contender to go far in this tournament.

OOC: The tournament bracket is here! We'll have the Round of 32 go on until Friday, at which point we'll move on to the Round of 16. Go ahead and write a blurb or whatever you want for your character's first duel, or just have it done off screen against some faceless competitor if you want.
