[Juudai vs Escher Report]
Dueling Fans gathered today, brimming with excitement, as the next round of the Action Dueling Championship began-- with fan-favorite Yuuki Juudai starting things off with a bang, against the ice skating queen of Action Dueling, Escher.
The Action Field today was the Sunlit Snowfield, a chilly reminder of what the weather will soon enough feel like in the coming months as we end off the summer season. Escher immediately took the advantage on her first turn by activating her field spell and speciality, Krystal Potential, covering the snowtrodden field with ice to help accelerate her movements. She immediately took to Quick Synchro Summoning the Crystron Quondam to destroy Juudai's monster, and then used Rosenix to deal the first blow, before using the monster's effect to summon her tuner ace, Crystron Citri.
Escher immediately put her monster to use on Juudai's turn, using her to summon Crystron Ametrix, giving herself a clear field advantage, until Juudai turned around and summoned the Masked HERO Acid, not only destroying Escher's field, but also reducing her monster's attack! Escher attempted to reach an Action Card that she had spotted, but due to the melting ice from the field destruction and the simulated sun, she was unable to reach the card, and her Quondam was destroyed.
She was not to be counted out, however, as she managed to set up her field for her trump monster. Juudai, however, had plans of his own, bringing out Elemental HERO Absolute Zero in full force-- taking clear advantage of Escher's WATER-attribute monsters, creating a hero with a whopping 4500 ATK due to the field at the time! Escher responded by performing an "Accel Synchro", a technique not done by name since the days of the World Racing Grand Prix, building up speed on the melting ice floes to not only achieve her Synchro, Crystron Phoenixian, but to also grab the Action Card she had sought: Freeze Freezer, which negated Juudai's attacks!
Escher, safe from harm, used the next turn to Synchro Summon an Armory Arm, boosting up Phoenixian's ATK score enough and emptying her field, so as to reduce Absolute Zero's ATK. She dealt a major blow using Armory Arm's effect to take down Masked HERO Acid, and then reflecting the monster's strength onto Juudai, giving her, beyond a doubt, an LP advantage.
However, Juudai was not down and out, as he retaliated the next turn, using the Form Change card to remove Absolute Zero from the field, destroying Crystron Phoenixian in the process, to summon Masked Hero Divine Wind. Due to the effect of Phoenixian and the Quick Synchro effects of Escher's monsters, what followed was a trading of effects and blows, with Escher getting out Ametrix to stop the attacks, and Juudai responding with monsters like Vision HERO Adoration, which allowed him to reduce the strength of his opponent's monsters, dealing heavy damage to her lead.
It eventually all came down to a double-play by Juudai, using Divine Wind to take out one monster, and then using Form Change to summon Masked HERO Koga in it's place. Using the monster's Quick Effect to great advantage, Juudai proceeded to weaken Escher's Ametrix at that time, leaving her with an empty field. Escher failed to draw a monster of use during her next turn, and attempted to find an Action Card to delay the next attacks, but ran out of luck when Juudai drew Elemental HERO Prisma-- just enough to take out both her defending monster, and also wipe out the rest of her life point!
After the duel, Escher expressed to Juudai her admiration towards him and what he's done for Pro Dueling, surprising fans she had gained through this due to what seemed to be a momentary break in her Ice Queen persona that she had cultivated. The climate between the two duelists seemed to warm the field itself.
Escher is now out of the tournament. Reporters attempted to reach her for comments as to her position in the Top 8, but failed to find her.
Despite this, please stay tuned as the Action Dueling Championship Tournament continues with high expectations!
