::For Professor Kantei and Principal Yoko (seperate threads if either is interested), you 'lucked' out on the school's night security detail that rotates since for whatever reason, the school's budget request for night security guards keeps getting misfiled enough that they can only handle the school late enough that there needs to be a gap filled by volunteers.

One day, that budget request will be properly filed. Tonight is not that day.

He's one of the pets we have at home, but I was thinking of bringing them in now and then to act as emotional support animals for the staff and students.

And since I knew I was going to be doing this little security detail today, I figured he could also be a guard dog.

*She lowers her voice to a whisper.*

Though to be fair, he's not a great guard dog.

Ah. I know the feeling, my husband has two cats at our place and neither are great at guarding the place.

Yes. Yuki Judai. We're both Alumni of the main Duel Academy High School. We both joined to become Pro Duelists, I ended up finding teaching was more my interest, and my husband...

Had a time of it, there.

Ended up Dueling as a Pro for I think a decade before cashing out to run an NGO for Duel Spirits full time.

Oh, yes. I believe I've heard his name before. He runs... SAI, is it?
My son, Yuya, occasionally volunteers to work with the Duel Spirits there and last year my other son, Yuto, adopted an Ancient Gear Beast from there too.
My husband has also been visiting it every now and then. He's taken a keen interest in Duel Spirits since he retired.

Yeah, I remember your husband's career ending injury. Sorry that happened. And yes. He runs SAI with me as a board member, I think. The top of SAI is a bit patchwork. We ended up merging with the Arcadia Movement after Isabel Marias went missing, with the now Empress being a long time philanthropic backer.

Yes, his injury was a big shock to us all, but life goes on, as they say. Yushou is keeping himself busy.

From what I've heard, SAI seems like a really great place.

I think I recall reading once your husband was a scientist before he became an entertainer?

And we try to. Psychic Duelists are people too, and need help. And all the more animal Duel Spirits need help trying to find their way in an urban environment like this. I do wish that rabbit would stop breaking into everything...

Yes, he was. He did a lot of research on duel systems and even cards and such with an old friend of his in the past, which lead to them developing the Real Solid Vision system. It's something he wishes to get back into and it's why he's taken such an interest in Duel Spirits as of late.

It sounds like you do really great work at SAI. I can't imagine what it's like for the little Duel Spirits, finding themselves lost in a completely different world to what they knew.

Ah, I wouldn't mind meeting him someday. I don't know how much I could contribute... But. The spirits.

Mostly scared or you find them rummaging through trash.

I found En on the street as a puppy. No one around, no microchip and he was scared and covered in dirt.

So, I'm glad those little spirits have a place finding them and helping them.

Yeah, it's great, but the main problem with our Ens, so to speak, is they can breathe fire. Or phase through walls.

That is true. You always have to expect the unexpected.
I remember when Yuya first got his Performapal Kuribohble spirit, it uncontrollably ate anything that was shiny in the house.

No. But if you thought you heard something, let's go check it out. One of the first rules in the unofficial manual we've cobbled together is to trust another teacher that something did happen.
