[Obelisk Force Story]

He didn't plan on this.

Landrobe had been making his way through the Quartet after that first loss, the ruins sheltering him for the most part. But his energy was at an all-time low, and he knew, he knew he didn't have the stamina for this type of thing. He knew it, but he didn't want to give up just yet.

But a wrench had been tossed into his plans. Some guy in a mask and a blue uniform showed up-- it looked like a Duel Academy uniform, only more... military-style? He wasn't sure what he was looking at, and he was tired, but soon as the guy started to approach him, he could sense it under his skin. Threat. This guy was a threat. He was threatening him. And not just in the sense of trying to take his Shards, he could see it in the smirk on his face. His body language.

He told him to give up quietly. That it'll be over quickly if he does that. He didn't like how that sounded, and he summoned up the energy to look obstinate and rebellious. When the strange-masked person raised his disk, he knew he was being told to duel. Even as he tried to move and escape, a tether shot out to grab his disk, keeping him there.

He had to duel here, no matter what. And he'd have to end it quickly.

And quickly he did. Within two of his turns, he was able to defeat his opponent-- but it was close even then. With the current rules of the Wonder Quartet, his LP was at 4000. And his opponent... either it was intentional or planned, but Ancient Gears. Those Ancient Gears were made to inflict heavy burn upon him, and if he hadn't finished it then and there, there was no mistaking that his opponent would've been able to overwhelm him easily.

The problem was that when he beat the first guy, two more came out from the ruins, grinning and raising their disks, and he ended up dragged into another duel. This time against two.

And these two didn't fool around, getting out first-turn Ancient Gear Golems and a Ancient Gear Hydra, clearly showing that they meant business. Landrobe responded in turn, managing to clear out the opponent's monsters, but not until they got out a fusion-- Megaton Ancient Gear Golem. But Landrobe was once again able to overwhelm it with his Qlis, and he thought he was safe--

Until three more of these guys appeared. There was no end.

At this point, he realized he was in an endless effort. Whoever these guys were, they had no intention on letting him go. They might even just be playing with him, at this point. He knew he couldn't outrun anyone right now, and he didn't want to find out what they planned to do with him once he gave up.

So, he did the only thing he could do. He broke the black collar around his neck.

... now, it had to be a shock as it was for the Obelisk Force members, that someone was managing to give them such a hassle. The use of Pendulum cards were still pretty confusing to them, but they figured numbers were enough to overcome anyone.

But they couldn't handle someone just up and vanishing from sight. And try as they might, they found that they could no longer locate their current prey.

... But they did end up finding new prey to hunt, as time went on. And maybe Landrobe was lucky to have escaped for now. But not a whole lot of other people have that type of convenience at hand.
