[DUEL FESTIVAL - DAY 7]

*It's the seventh day of the Festival, in the morning.

And to a lot of people's surprise, it seems like everything's getting packed up. Most of the booths and stands are closed down and getting put away, but it looks like the day's main event is still planned to commence. On the schedules everyone can access, there is only one event for the arena: "Wonder Quartet".

Up until this point, everyone assumed this to be basically a regular tournament to top off the event while everyone enjoyed their final day, but it seems like there's something more, with how hurried the organizers are.

Notably though, around the areas where screens are set up to show dueling video, online streams, and at the arena, there's two countdowns present-- one being for in a few minutes to something simply noted as "Announcement", and the other being for the oft-rumored "Wonder Quartet", a half-hour after that, starting at noon.

Best thing to do right now is to head for the arena, or watch one of the screens present or on your computer/phone/internet device of your choice.*

*Hearing Shirou's voice and Fortune's chirps, Yuya looks in their direction. He's a little groggy and looks a little confused.*

Shirou...?
What... where...?

*He has a lot of questions in his head, but they're a bit jumbled up at the moment.*

Ah... probably better someone else manages to explain this, but...

You're still in the middle of the... "Wonder Quartet", as Gongenzaka described it to me? *well least you know you're not in the middle of a real jungle.

Fortune Tune flutters nearby, landing and staring at you, Yuya. You SEEM okay...*

*That jogs Yuya's memory. He was taking part in the Wonder Quartet right now and he was in the jungle zone and...
His eyes open wide as he remembers something, before he quickly sits upright.*

W-we've got to warn people...!
We--! Argh...

*He holds a hand to his head as a brief moment of dizziness hits him from sitting up too fast.*

I... I think you should try to stay still.

You went through a lot, it seemed like.

[Gongenzaka immediately grabs Yuya and tries to guide him to rest again.]

Yuya! Don't strain yourself!

[Gongenzaka looks a little beat up as well, but...he's fightin' through it. Right now, he's just relieved that his friend is okay.]

Yeah bud, you should rest for a little bit. You were out for a while.

*Yuya allows Gongenzaka to guide him back down to rest, but his eyes look to him and then to Yuma.*

For a while...?

*He looks a little concerned and puzzled.*

... what happened?
I saw some people in uniforms, they were turning some of the other competitors into cards, but... that's all I remember.

...when Shirou and I found you...you were dueling those people with the masks and uniforms.

You were different. Like you were...possessed by something else. Like when you fought Kachidoki.

You summoned a new dragon and defeated all of them. A branch was about to fall on you. I stopped it.You went berserk. We had to hold you down until you passed out.

*nodding slightly as Gongenzaka explains it*

Something seemed to have engulfed you. An endless animosity, it felt like. After the branch fell, I sent Fortune Tune to find help. Thankfully, Yuma was nearby...

*Yuma nods as well.*

I heard the commotion from the duel and thought it sounded kinda odd, so I was trying to head towards it. That's when Fortune found me and guided me to everyone.

*Yuya's eyes grow wide with horror when he hears the explanation of what happened and how he acted. He had no idea what was happening, but it was clear he'd lost control again, just like in his duel against Kachidoki.
Raising a hand to his head, he gives out a weary sigh.*

What's happening to me...

Well... This might not answer what's happening, but...

I did notice something else about you.

*Yuya looks curiously over at him.*

Something else?

Well... it's something I even notice now, and it wasn't there the last time I had spoken to you directly, but...

It's almost like there's someone else there.

Someone else...?

*He looks really confused over that for a moment, but eventually a look of realisation seems to appear on his face, as he starts to remember something else.
He saw memories. Memories that weren't his, of people being attacked and carded in a city that wasn't Domino.
He remembered how painful those memories had felt.
And he had a feeling he knew where they came from.*

Yuto...?

"Yuto"?

Yuto...the boy that looks like you?!

Hm. *Yuya gives them a small nod.*

There's something else I remember.
When I witnessed those people turning the other competitors into cards, it triggered... memories. Painful ones.
A city being attacked. People screaming and trying to escape, before they were turned into cards.

I think... those were his memories.

After my encounter with him, he disappeared without a trace. Even Kurosaki hadn't heard from him.
Did he... somehow become a part of me?
Is his anger somehow controlling me?

*Yuya mulled on that last though for a moment, before shaking his head.*

No... Yuto handed me Dark Rebellion and told me to create smiles with my dueling. I trust in him and I'm sure he wouldn't purposely make me go on a rampage like that.

Then...

If what you're saying is true... [And Gongenzaka has no reason to doubt Yuya's words or his faith in Yuto at this point,] ...then something else...that animosity that Shirou sensed...is what took control of both of you.

[Gongenzaka grimaces.]

What I saw from you...it was nothing like you, Yuya. It was malevolent, hateful, animalistic...it was like a demon was controlling your body.

Mm... I can agree with that.

Whatever happened to you, it felt like it was smothering you and the other presence... "Yuto", if that's who it is.

*At first, Yuya looks terrified of that thought, that there was something dark lurking within the both of them that was attempting to control them.
Biting his lip and taking hold of his pendant, Yuya closes his eyes and lowers his head.
What was he going to do?

It's then that he remembered his father's words to him when he was younger:
"If you allow yourself to freeze up from fear, then you'll never move forward."

Taking a deep breath, Yuya slowly opens his eyes and although he still looks tense, he seems more determined.*

Then I just need to trust in myself and in Yuto, that we won't lose ourselves to whatever darkness is laying in our hearts.
And we will definitely bring about smiles with our dueling, no matter what!

*Hearing this, Yuma gives him a huge grin.*

Yeah!! The both of you will never lose to it! Just kattobing and show it whose boss!!
I believe in ya both, no matter what!

This man, Gongenzaka believes in you as well! There's no darkness strong enough to suppress you, Yuya!

[He pauses for a beat.]

...but...you said that you remembered a city being attacked. By the same people that are now showing up in this Battle Royale. In that case...

Are we looking at a situation where the people who attacked Yuto and Kurosaki's hometown, the people who attacked Heartland City, and the people who are here now...are all one-in-the same?

[It goes without saying -- they're in a really dangerous situation, if that's true.]

*Yuya gives him a nod.*

Yeah.
They're from Academia.

We need to find Yuzu and the other competitors and warn them!

Tch...

*Yuma tightens his hands into fists as he hears this, looking rather angry. He had been told that an attack from those who targeted and destroyed his home town was highly likely, but so soon? And during the Wonder Quartet?*

No matter what, I'm not going to allow them to hurt anybody else, or harm Domino City!!
