[DUEL FESTIVAL - DAY 7]

*It's the seventh day of the Festival, in the morning.

And to a lot of people's surprise, it seems like everything's getting packed up. Most of the booths and stands are closed down and getting put away, but it looks like the day's main event is still planned to commence. On the schedules everyone can access, there is only one event for the arena: "Wonder Quartet".

Up until this point, everyone assumed this to be basically a regular tournament to top off the event while everyone enjoyed their final day, but it seems like there's something more, with how hurried the organizers are.

Notably though, around the areas where screens are set up to show dueling video, online streams, and at the arena, there's two countdowns present-- one being for in a few minutes to something simply noted as "Announcement", and the other being for the oft-rumored "Wonder Quartet", a half-hour after that, starting at noon.

Best thing to do right now is to head for the arena, or watch one of the screens present or on your computer/phone/internet device of your choice.*

They got in my way. They were so persistent, that I just had to teach them a lesson. You can even keep them if you want, as a little gift.

*everything about this is wrong. How he says it so casually. that he acts like giving you them is almost akin to a peace offering, instead of the overt threat he's making towards you. The fact that people are currently cards in your hand.

He holds out his hand once more.*

Now, if that's clear. We should really stop delaying this.

They aren't...

They're not fighters...they're just normal people...why...why would you...

Are you really going to keep asking for answers you already know? *his tone is starting to get... slightly annoyed, but he keeps it very deceivingly soft.*

[Yuzu's hand slowly clenches into a fist.]

...

[The cards are picked up and deposited in her pocket. She stands up and does a handspring, flipping backwards and landing on her feet, skidding backwards on the ice a bit.

She brings up her Duel Disk and glares forward at Yuri.]

You're not getting any further than this.

Oh... Oh! You want to duel me? Really? How stubborn... You're really a lot like them.

Fine, I'll humor you. But when I win, you have to listen to what I say. No excuses.

*When he wins. Not if. When. He raises his own disk, as it comes to life, the hard light extending like a sword, just like those other Academia members'.*

That's not gonna happen!

DUEL!

Duel.

*... and then it cuts ahead, as a very large, shadowy dragon looms over the field-- over Yuzu, as it's body coils like a snake. It's very presence causes one's hairs to stand on end, much like the one who summoned it.

What do you do, Yuzu.*

[Yuzu's mouth hangs open as the dragon appears on the field -- as her Melodious monsters are ripped to shreds in its presence.

She stumbles backwards, trying not to trip over her own feet. She gulps as she stares up at the dragon. At her sides, her hands are shaking.]

Well? What happened to all of that gusto and bravado?

You were all ready to take on those three Obelisk Force members all alone... Can't you handle one dragon?

*he steps towards Yuzu, calmly. casually.* Come on. Don't disappoint me, now.

[Yuzu steps back again. She realizes she doesn't want him to get closer. She realizes her hands are shaking. She realizes how scared she is.

She realizes she's lost.

She takes in a few breaths. She makes eye contact with Yuri for a moment --

-- she turns and runs. As fast as she can.]

... So, it's a chase you want, huh? How troublesome. *he shrugs his shoulders, shaking his head in mock disbelief.*

Fine then... If that's what it's going to be, we shouldn't stand around. Let's go have some fun, Starving Venom.

*The dragon answers, letting out an eerie roar that echoes across the frozen wasteland, as it and it's master take off after Yuzu.*

*Yuri walks through the Glacial Zone-- it's been many hours at this point since Yuzu bolted, and despite the passage of time, he's been taking this rather casually. Like he's playing a game with her. Every so often he calls out in a similar fashion:*

Yuzu~ You've been doing well to avoid me so far. I'm sure you're getting tired of this by now, though. You can't last forever... Why don't you come out so we can end this already?

*as he speaks, the shadowy figure of a serpentine dragon looms around, peering into the cracks and corners of the ice formations...*

[It's something to be said for adrenaline that Yuzu has kept this up this long. Her legs are tired, her back hurts, she hasn't had anything to eat or drink in hours. She's exhausted, but she knows she can't stop. She hasn't been able to get enough distance from Yuri to call for help -- and even if she could, she doesn't know if she should. This guy is extremely dangerous, she can't drag other people into that.

She needs to rest -- just for a couple minutes, before she can run again. So she's ducked under the stands in the Crystal Realm: End of the World. She's hunched up in a little ball as small as she can make herself, looking up through the gaps in the stands, trying to see how close he is and how much time she has before she has to run again.]

Come on... If you end this now, I promise I won't hurt you. *despite his words, the dragon's teeth snap together as it searches. He's walking a bit dangerously close to where you might be...*

After all, the Professor wouldn't want me to hurt you. And I wouldn't want you to have to force me to do it.

It'll be much better once you're at Academia. Out of the way, out of sight.

[Yuzu clenches her fist and despite how scared she is, she finds it in her to get angry -- knowing that Ruri and Rin probably went through this same thing...it makes her want to fight. Stand up for herself. Stop this now and force him to tell her how to find those two.

She clasps her hands over her mouth and pulls her legs in as tightly as she can, biting down her anger and forcing herself to stay quiet and hidden. If she gives herself up now, she knows he's done. She begs whatever higher power might be listening to just let him give up and go look for her somewhere else.]

*step, step, step...*

You can't hide forever, Yuzu. I know you're here.

You're trapped. And there's nothing you can do about it other than end this little game of ours.

*the shadow of the dragon passes over your hiding place, as he gets closer, closer...*

*... but then you hear a clatter of something, and the dragon looks away, along with Yuri. His expression shifting to something more like this.*

[Yuzu is sure that she's done, that he's about to find her --

When she hears something that she's pretty sure didn't come from him or her.

She opens her eyes slowly and tries to peek through the gap to see what's going on.]

*it seems like something's caught Yuri's attention, but you can't see what. it sounded like someone threw something by how it echoed around the stands.

But what's more important is that it gives you the chance to try to slip out and get away.*

[Okay BYE.

Yuzu immediately starts scurrying away, hands over her mouth, trying to stay as low to the ground as possible. Eventually, she comes out from under the stands and is trying to get away from Yuri as quickly as possible while still staying quiet.]

*after you get a short distance away, you hear someone giving a "pssst" sound from behind one of the columns, waving their hand a little for you to come hide over here.

There's someone else here?*

[Yuzu blinks.

She looks over at the pillar.]

*there's a girl there-- a girl you probably recognize after a few seconds.

She's looking anxiously in the direction Yuri's still in, waving for you to take cover here.*

[Yuzu's eyes widen -- she immediately ducks behind the pillar as well.]

Sonia! [They're probably out of earshot, but she still whispers, just to be safe.] What're you doing here?!

I just came in this direction. I heard that weird guy calling out your name, and that huge dragon of his...

*she looks at you, and how you probably look after spending multiple hours hiding away like you were*

... you look awful.

I feel worse.

We -- we gotta get outta here, that guy is really dangerous! If he sees you -- l-look, we absolutely can't let him see you, okay?!
