[DUEL FESTIVAL - DAY 7]

*It's the seventh day of the Festival, in the morning.

And to a lot of people's surprise, it seems like everything's getting packed up. Most of the booths and stands are closed down and getting put away, but it looks like the day's main event is still planned to commence. On the schedules everyone can access, there is only one event for the arena: "Wonder Quartet".

Up until this point, everyone assumed this to be basically a regular tournament to top off the event while everyone enjoyed their final day, but it seems like there's something more, with how hurried the organizers are.

Notably though, around the areas where screens are set up to show dueling video, online streams, and at the arena, there's two countdowns present-- one being for in a few minutes to something simply noted as "Announcement", and the other being for the oft-rumored "Wonder Quartet", a half-hour after that, starting at noon.

Best thing to do right now is to head for the arena, or watch one of the screens present or on your computer/phone/internet device of your choice.*

... I think you miss the point of why I'd want to duel you in the first place.

You're the former champion. Of course I'm going to want the chance to duel you, not just to get your Shard. I don't care about that part in particular. I care about seeing how I match up to you, as someone Trendafilka looks up to and admires. As someone who has won it all before. And you know what? Maybe I can at least help in the process.

*... he lets out another sigh, looking to the side* You can keep refusing it if you want, though. But everyone else is probably going to try to challenge you, too, without regard to what you're dealing with. At least duel someone who'll let up once you find what you're looking for.

[Isabel rolls her eyes partway through this. It's all over her face how much she has absolutely no interest in dueling Kou right now.

Eventually, though, she fixes him with a long stare. And she pulls out her phone and dials somebody.]

Yeah. Yeah, it's me. Yeah, I know you've been worried about me. Well, I got bounced to the Mist Valley. It's a long story. Look -- I'll tell you later, point is, I'm back in the city, I think there's a dangerous person skulking around, I dunno anything about them or how to find them, can you come into this fake giant arena thing and help me find them. I'm in the middle of a giant jungle.

Okay. Okay. Yeah. See you in a bit.

[She slips her phone into her pocket and points at Tezaki.]

Get your shit ready. I'm doing this quickly and then moving on.

*his disk is already activated.

He's at least not wasting time about this.

... He'll deal with the negative emotions later of "wasting her time".*

*and before you know it, he's off in the lead-- he wasn't kidding about guiding, at least, but he gives you ample time to start following before he begins*

I start! Normal Summon, Raiden, Hand of the Lightsworn! (1700/1000 ATK) *between the trees, you see Raiden appearing, filtered through the foliage*

[Isabel follows - and she's quick to respond.]

When a monster is summoned to my opponent's field, I summon Naturia Cosmobeet from my hand! (1000/700)

Raiden's effect! *two cards get sliced through-- Solar Recharge and Galaxy Cyclone. He makes a small "tch" sound.*

I set one card and end my turn!

*two cards flicker by. Shaddoll Dragon and Necro Gardna. Raiden and Necro Gardna. Hnm. Though Shaddolls being there can be a problem before long.*

Right now, this whole jungle area is basically the Festival Area itself. The Wonder Quartet extends far past it, from what I've been able to tell.

[Isabel thinks about that for a moment -- how big the area for the festival was and thus, how much ground this Solid Vision might be covering.]

...draw!

I activate Instant Fusion! (3000 LP) I Special Summon the level 3 Fusionist from my Extra Deck! (900/700) Then I tune the level 3 Fusionist with my level 2 Cosmobeet! [Cosmobeet becomes two rings that surround Cosmobeet. (2+3=5)]

Synchro Summon! Level 5, Naturia Beast! (2200/1700)

[She waves an arm out.]

Naturia Beast! Attack Raiden!

*Given how large the festival area was alone, it could be safe to say that saying you're in the middle of a jungle might've been a little too broad of a description.*

When you attack, banish! Necro Gardna! *the specter of the warrior appears to shield the blow, before vanishing*

[Naturia Beast's claw clashes against Necro Gardna. Isabel hesitates briefly, when she sees that. She stares at the two monsters clashing against each other...something about it seems to have caught her attention.

...]

Set two cards. Turn end.

I draw! Raiden's effect!

*two cards get sliced up. Jain, Lightsworn Paladin, and Shaddoll Falco-- who appears on the field as a set card, as floating dark orb signifying it as it keeps up with Kou's movements through the trees, Raiden powering up slightly to 1900 ATK-- but clearly nothing to handle Beast.*

I normal summon Shaddoll Squamata! (1800/1000) *a puppet lizard appears, carried along by strings that go to nowhere. A Level 4 Tuner and a Level 4 monster...

He thinks about it for a moment, but then he raises his hand up.*

Construct the Overlay Network! I overlay Raiden and Squamata! Xyz Summon! Minerva, the Exalted Lightsworn!

Reverse card, open! Time-Space Trap Hole!

[Space warps around Minerva.]

I send Minerva back to the Extra Deck and lose 1000 life points! (2000 LP)

*that's more trouble for him. But with Falco there...*

I end my turn.

Draw!

I activate Foolish Burial Goods! Send Naturia Sacred Tree from my deck to the graveyard! [She mills the card from her deck.] When it's sent to the graveyard, Naturia Sacred Tree adds a Naturia monster to my hand! I add Naturia Marron and summon it! (1200/700)

Marron's effect sends a Naturia monster from my deck to the graveyard! I send Naturia Hunter Moss Channeler to the graveyard! Moss Channeler's effect sets Naturia Sacred Tree from my graveyard to my field! [A set card appears in Isabel's S/T zone.] Marron's effect returns Moss Channeler and Cosmobeet from my graveyard to my deck to draw 1! [She draws 1.]

Moss Channeler's effect -- I can activate the card that was set by its effect! Activate Naturia Sacred Tree! [A huge tree sprouts from the ground -- branches traveling out, seeming to create footholds for Isabel to leap to.] Sacred Tree's effect! I release Marron to summon the Insect-type Traptrix Myrmeleo from my deck! (1600/1200) Myrmeleo's effect destroys your set card!

*he has to keep his balance as the Tree's roots sink into the ground and flow up. Right now, the jungle's trees are starting to thin out more, but in their place is a lot more underbrush and various other plants which try to upset his footing.

Of course, while he's focused on that, Shaddoll Core gets blasted into next week.*

I banish Fusionist from my graveyard! Special Summon Gigantes! (1900/1300)

Gigantes attacks the set monster!

Falco! Go! *Falco appears, giving an eerie squawking sound, as Shaddoll Squamata appears for but a moment, before setting itself.

... and then Falco gets slugged by Gigantes' log, breaking into pieces that shatter.*

Naturia Beast destroys the set Squamata!

*Squamata appears, only to be broken apart... but it's strings grab onto Naturia Beast in response.*

Squamata's effect! I destroy your Beast!

*the strings tighten, before pulling suddenly to slice through*

[Naturia Beast is destroyed...but right in its wake is Myrmeleo.]

Traptrix Myrmeleo attacks directly!

*and hit! Myrmeleo's attack kicks up the plants, which hit at Kou, slowing his movements a bit. [2400 LP]

He shakes his head, getting the leaves out of his hair, before moving again. At the current rate, they should reach the outskirts and start seeing the signs of the Glacial Zone soon...*

[Isabel blinks. The landscape is starting to change.]

Turn end.

*it's even more impressive that there's a gradual drop in the temperature, too, as they move along. Still enough of a ways off from the actual Glacial Zone, but now that the trees are mostly thinned out, Isabel can see just how the environment has stretched out.*

Now that Beast is gone... activate, Shaddoll Fusion! I fuse Shaddoll Falco and Necro Gardna in my hand-- Fusion Summon! El Shaddoll Winda! (2200/800)

*... well, considering what just happened to you recently, this has to be an awkward sight to see. Falco meanwhile sets itself next to the newly formed Winda, as she readies her staff*

[Isabel's eyes narrow.]

Reverse card, open! Fiendish Chain on El Shaddoll Winda!

*the chains latch out, grabbing onto Winda and the Pulao she was riding on, thoroughly restraining the both of them.

Another "tch" sound from Kou, understandably.*

Naturia Sacred Tree's effect releases the Naturia Plant Token to summon the insect-type Naturia Butterfly from my deck! (500/1200) I tune the level 3 Naturia Butterfly and the level 4 Naturia Hunter Aussa! [Butterfly turns into 3 rings that surround Aussa. (3+4=7)]

Banish Naturia Marron from my graveyard for Black Rose Dragon's effect! I flip your set monster to attack position and reduce its ATK to 0!
