[DUEL FESTIVAL - DAY 7]

*It's the seventh day of the Festival, in the morning.

And to a lot of people's surprise, it seems like everything's getting packed up. Most of the booths and stands are closed down and getting put away, but it looks like the day's main event is still planned to commence. On the schedules everyone can access, there is only one event for the arena: "Wonder Quartet".

Up until this point, everyone assumed this to be basically a regular tournament to top off the event while everyone enjoyed their final day, but it seems like there's something more, with how hurried the organizers are.

Notably though, around the areas where screens are set up to show dueling video, online streams, and at the arena, there's two countdowns present-- one being for in a few minutes to something simply noted as "Announcement", and the other being for the oft-rumored "Wonder Quartet", a half-hour after that, starting at noon.

Best thing to do right now is to head for the arena, or watch one of the screens present or on your computer/phone/internet device of your choice.*

Ohh? You all seem to be having fun. Mind if I join in?

*a figure jumps out of nowhere, in front of the Academia duelists, purple cape fluttering. All three of them stand back immediately, as though recoiling, as he stands up.

His face is immediately recognizable, despite the smirk currently there.*

[Yuzu's eyes widen. She takes a step back.]

Yu... [She blinks. Then, she stops herself.]

N...no.

You're not Yuya...or Yuto.

S-sir... We... We cornered one of the targets. Your orders...?

*the one who speaks-- his voice is audibly shaking, addressing this new guy with Yuya's face. Whoever he is, he turns his head slightly, almost lackadaisical.*

Why don't you run along, then? I'll take it from here, since you'll only manage to get in my way. And we all know what to do when that happens, right?

*as though it was a sign of mercy that he even told them that they should leave, the three Academia members bolted. They don't want to get in the middle of this guy when he's hunting.*

[Yuzu slowly starts taking steps back. This guy is giving her a bad feeling and not just because of the way these guys are reacting to him.]

Who...are you?

*he gives that simple response, as he glances up and down at her*

And you're Yuzu, correct? Even though you look so much like my Serena, you have that different air about you, like Rin and Ruri had. You wouldn't happen to know where she might be, right? *there are so many parts of that those sentences that're more alarming than the next.*

[Yuzu has about six or seven red flags going by the end of that sentence.]

You...you know Serena and Ruri?

Of course. Serena is my good friend *which sounds off-base even as he says it, to you.* and Ruri... Well, the Professor wanted to see Ruri. So I brought her to him, simple as that.

Now it's your turn. So come along. *he holds out his hand towards Yuzu, his smile as cold as the ice surrounding the area.* We shouldn't keep the Professor waiting, right? We can even pick up Serena on the way.

... [Yuzu's eyes widened.]

Y...

You're the one who took Ruri from the Xyz Dimension...!

Yes. Is there a problem with that?

You took her away from her home and her friends...! [Her eyes narrow.] And now...you're here for me and Serena too, right?! Is that it?!

I've basically said that, right? In Serena's case, I'm just taking her home to where she belongs, after she tragically vanished months ago.

You're basically an honored guest, just like Ruri and Rin.

Oh. An honored guest well that's cool, GO STRAIGHT TO HELL, I'M NOT GOING ANYWHERE WITH YOU!

Oh, come on. Be reasonable. After all...

*he pulls out a few cards, and tosses them to the ground for you to see, Yuzu. They have images of people on them, recoiling in fear.*

I'd hate to have to use force against you, like I did with them.

[Yuzu looks down. She sees the cards, realizes quickly that they're not Duel Monsters cards...

...a chill shoots up her spine. She recognizes these people. She's dueled these people. They're Super Junior League duelists. Her breath catches in her throat for a second as she picks them up.]

Wh...wh...why...?

They got in my way. They were so persistent, that I just had to teach them a lesson. You can even keep them if you want, as a little gift.

*everything about this is wrong. How he says it so casually. that he acts like giving you them is almost akin to a peace offering, instead of the overt threat he's making towards you. The fact that people are currently cards in your hand.

He holds out his hand once more.*

Now, if that's clear. We should really stop delaying this.

They aren't...

They're not fighters...they're just normal people...why...why would you...

I already said why. They got. In. My. Way.

Are you really going to keep asking for answers you already know? *his tone is starting to get... slightly annoyed, but he keeps it very deceivingly soft.*

[Yuzu's hand slowly clenches into a fist.]

[The cards are picked up and deposited in her pocket. She stands up and does a handspring, flipping backwards and landing on her feet, skidding backwards on the ice a bit.

She brings up her Duel Disk and glares forward at Yuri.]

You're not getting any further than this.

Oh... Oh! You want to duel me? Really? How stubborn... You're really a lot like them.

Fine, I'll humor you. But when I win, you have to listen to what I say. No excuses.

*When he wins. Not if. When. He raises his own disk, as it comes to life, the hard light extending like a sword, just like those other Academia members'.*

That's not gonna happen!

DUEL!

Duel.

*... and then it cuts ahead, as a very large, shadowy dragon looms over the field-- over Yuzu, as it's body coils like a snake. It's very presence causes one's hairs to stand on end, much like the one who summoned it.

What do you do, Yuzu.*

[Yuzu's mouth hangs open as the dragon appears on the field -- as her Melodious monsters are ripped to shreds in its presence.

She stumbles backwards, trying not to trip over her own feet. She gulps as she stares up at the dragon. At her sides, her hands are shaking.]

Well? What happened to all of that gusto and bravado?

You were all ready to take on those three Obelisk Force members all alone... Can't you handle one dragon?

*he steps towards Yuzu, calmly. casually.* Come on. Don't disappoint me, now.

[Yuzu steps back again. She realizes she doesn't want him to get closer. She realizes her hands are shaking. She realizes how scared she is.

She realizes she's lost.

She takes in a few breaths. She makes eye contact with Yuri for a moment --

-- she turns and runs. As fast as she can.]

... So, it's a chase you want, huh? How troublesome. *he shrugs his shoulders, shaking his head in mock disbelief.*

Fine then... If that's what it's going to be, we shouldn't stand around. Let's go have some fun, Starving Venom.

*The dragon answers, letting out an eerie roar that echoes across the frozen wasteland, as it and it's master take off after Yuzu.*
