*Today was the day of the Semi-Finals of a big Action Duel tournament being held in New York City which Action Duelist Yushou Sakaki was taking part in. It was all going well, until an unexpected accident cut the duel short.

News about the accident has been all over the news since.*

And in our top story:

Popular Action Duelist, Yushou Sakaki, was involved in an accident during his match in the semi-finals of the US Action Duel tournament, currently being held in New York City.
During his match with US Action Duelist Brett Jones, Yushou Sakaki seemed to lose his footing and fell from a high platform after his opponent attacked with the Rank 12 XYZ Monster, Super Quantal Mech King Great Magnus.

Early reports seem to indicate that Yushou Sakaki has received damage to his left leg as a result of the fall and is currently receiving treatment in hospital.

Hospital officials have not yet given a statement on his exact condition or the actual extent of the injuries, though tournament officials have concluded that Yushou Sakaki will not be able to continue in the tournament and Brett Jones was awarded the match.

We'll have more on this story as it comes.

*Sometime in the late evening, on New Years Eve, the Signers might have felt a familiar burning sensation on their arm-- it's a sensation that they hadn't felt in a while, and maybe they had hoped that the issue would've resolved itself, given the amount of time, but the fact is, it's still there.

Which is also why a news report comes out, that maybe someone has noticed...*

... And now, for more information on the New Year Mass Disappearance. For those just joining us, a bus-load's worth of tourists who had come into Domino City for a New Years celebration suddenly vanished shortly before midnight, according to the driver's testimony. Those involved with the tour group were meant to meet back up with the driver after stopping in at one of the shrines on the tour's route at 11pm, but never returned at the designated 11:30pm time to reach their final destination on the tour.

[A map is inserted into the report's visual, showing the exact shrine, as well as the route that the bus had gone on, visiting several of the city's shrines and other points of interest in a three hour tour span before midnight.]

Investigators remain baffled at the disappearance. Eyewitnesses place the tour group at the shrine, but it's been difficult for them to pinpoint when exactly they vanished, due to the high density crowds, as well as due to the fireworks that had gone off ahead of schedule to celebrate the new year. Pictures from the group's various social medias have been found uploaded during the point of time in which they were visiting the shrine, but analyzers have not noticed anything connective or unusual about the images.

[Several images of social media uploads are shown, with the group having fun and taking selfies at the shrine, where all of the lights and lanterns were also put up. Some are even wearing kimonos.]

Police continue to investigate the shrine grounds, hoping to find some clue to clear up the mystery of...

::Season's greetings, it's time for merry and cheer, and spending time with friends and family, and just general warmth in this, the chilliest time of the year.

And in fitting with that, there's three places to run in with folks and talk!

Option A
The Domino Plaza, it's being set up with Real Solid Vision Displays with all sorts of nice Christmas and Winter themed items, including Snowmen, and Santa and Elves. And even Santa Claws is roaming around!

Option B
You can be at Duel Academy where Kitty and Yuya are holding a Christmas Party full of decorations and tables of food, and even fruit punch. And there's even a place out of the way where some Misteltoe has been put up by some mischievous soul.

Option C
At Kaikori, in the private tutoring building, the auditorium has been purposed into a party and dinner hall for folks to mingle, and Kaikori itself has been decorated by a certain local Goddess who loves Christmas.

Have some fun, or if you want, get your cast in trouble on this holy night.::

::So. There's a road isolated in the back end of the city.

It's a fairly light area, some small businesses and empty warehouses. The main noteworthy thing is...

Several empty lots of disassembled warehouses.

Except they're not empty.

They have three space ships? Vehicles? One looks like it's a very sophisticated minimalist landing vessel for machines.

Another looks like some sort of small demonic airship.

The third is a snow flake shaped UFO.

At the first is a blonde woman who looks like she's half robot, attended to by a Mechanicalchaser with the air of a butler.

The second is a pair of sisters yawning. One is a blonde in goth wear. The other is a brunette with glasses, a vest and labcoat.

The third has a white haired girl snoring a snot bubble out her nose.

They all have 'lemonade stands' saying inquiries and their 'embassies' are open.::
::So you can come across two club recruitment booths.

This would probably be normal, since our DA is notorious for mid-year joining of clubs.

What isn't normal, is that the girls heading up recruitment, Rekka and AshleyAisling are basically glaring at each other when they aren't talking to interested students.

So, who do you dare pick to talk to, the Foodie Boxing Girl (Rekka) or the Girl Who Is Clearly Loaded (Aisling)?::

*Today's the first of the new year. It's pretty chilly outside, but the cold is no excuse to not partake in normal traditions like going to a shrine and praying for a good year.

So, there's a shrine in Domino. Maybe not as extensive as some outside of the city, but it's fairly nice, and it's pretty much bustling given the day. There's some stalls set up serving some Seasonally Appropriate Foods as well. You can go up and give an offering at the shrine itself, or go and pull a fortune from the omikuji.

Also girls and those otherwise who may want to do so might want to wear a kimono, if they have one. It's traditional.*

*The Wolfpack, formed by Alex and Yuma, had taken their own separate path in order to deal with Academia and to hopefully discover a way to reverse the carding effect on those that had been defeated by them.
In order to discover that, they were first heading towards Endymion in Yuma's airship.

Everything seemed to be going smoothly on their journey, until...

*BANG*

The whole ship suddenly shook violently, almost throwing everyone on-board off their feet.

"W-What happened?!" Yuma exclaimed as he struggled to keep hold of the ships wheel. Hope quickly glided over to one of the panels and pressed a few buttons, before looking up at the map displaying in the centre of the cockpit.
There were a number of alerts flashing up on it.

"It appears there are a number of highly unusual and unstable dimensional rifts forming around us at an alarming rate!"

"Well... what does that mean?!"

*BANG* The ship shakes violently once more.

"It means that we are in a very dangerous situation."

Yuma glared at Hope, with a 'I knew that!!' expression, but before he can even say anything, the ship is hit with more turbulence, and this time, the ship doesn't stop shaking. Yuma struggles to stay on his feet, but he soon finds that the ships wheel is no longer responding to him when he tries to turn it.

"I... I can't steer the ship! The wheel's locked!!"

*BANG* *BANG* *BANG*

As Yuma looks around in a panic at the other's within the ship, he suddenly sees light surround Alex and Galaxy-Eyes, as well as Shian and Cestus... before they suddenly vanish.

"Alex! Shian!! Cestus!" Yuma looked in panic up at Hope. "What happened to them?!"

"The disturbances are very powerful and is affecting those of us within the ship. They may of been pulled individually into the rifts."

Yuma grits his teeth as he tries once again to steer the ship, but it was no good, it seemed like they were being pulled towards a rift too.
There was nothing they could do but prepare for a rough landing.

"Everyone! Grab onto something quickly!!"

As everyone grabs onto something nearby to them for safety, the ship is pulled quickly into the rift, shaking extremely violently as it does.
There's a bright flash of light and the next thing they know, the ship crashes down hard onto something and seems to skid along, until it eventually stops moving...*

*It's the seventh day of the Festival, in the morning.

And to a lot of people's surprise, it seems like everything's getting packed up. Most of the booths and stands are closed down and getting put away, but it looks like the day's main event is still planned to commence. On the schedules everyone can access, there is only one event for the arena: "Wonder Quartet".

Up until this point, everyone assumed this to be basically a regular tournament to top off the event while everyone enjoyed their final day, but it seems like there's something more, with how hurried the organizers are.

Notably though, around the areas where screens are set up to show dueling video, online streams, and at the arena, there's two countdowns present-- one being for in a few minutes to something simply noted as "Announcement", and the other being for the oft-rumored "Wonder Quartet", a half-hour after that, starting at noon.

Best thing to do right now is to head for the arena, or watch one of the screens present or on your computer/phone/internet device of your choice.*

We've been given an update on the condition of the two duelists from yesterday's Duel Festival contest between Yuya Sakaki and Isao Kachidoki and how it is expected to affect the two duelists going forward.

Isao Kachidoki was determined to have suffered a severe neck injury at the end of the duel that will require neck surgery. The injury has left the continuation of Kachidoki's aspirations of a professional dueling career in serious doubt. With surgery and physical therapy, his doctor believes he could return to dueling eventually, but not for at least 9-12 months. This definitely removes Kachidoki as potential contender in the Wonder Quartet tournament, which he was expected to be a participant in.

Yuya Sakaki suffered a broken nose at the hands of Isao Kachdioki during the tournament, as well as a number of minor bruises and cuts. Sakaki was treated by medical staff at the arena and is not expected to miss any time as a result of the injury.

Super Junior League General Manager made a full statement at the Domino Stadium this morning about the news:

"I'm extremely upset at this news. I'm extremely upset that things got this far. I'm extremely upset that I let them get this far. For the past several months, I've tried to juggle enforcing the rules I was told to enforce while also keeping the safety of all of my duelists as my top priority. Looking back, I see so many points where this situation escalated that it just shouldn't have. I should've stopped it. Others should have stopped it. But we didn't and this is where we wound up. These two kids were put into a system that wound up completely failing them. I failed them.

I'm instating a ban on physical contact during Action Duels in the Super Junior League, effective immediately."

Johan pauses for a second....then he goes back and keeps talking:

"And I really hope that wherever he is, Ryozan Godagawa takes this incident for the wake-up call he desperately needs. He's been playing with fire for six months and it might've just cost one of his students his career before it even got started. He's the person I'd really like to see punished for this happening, but anything I can do would just punish the Ryozanpaku students in my league, who are all exceptional, hard-working duelists that deserve way better. I hope he's doing some real soul-searching right now. And I hope he has enough decency to let Isao see his family while he recovers."

That's about the angriest Johan's ever gotten... ...ever, maybe? Either way, true to his words, he looks really upset.

Ryozan Godagawa, headmaster and owner of the Ryozanpaku Duel School, could not be reached for comment.

Following his duel today with Yuya Sakaki at the Duel Festival, Super Junior League duelist and Ryozanpaku student Isao Kachidoki was immediately taken to the hospital for treatment of what was suspected to be a severe neck injury.

The duel, which was extremely physical in nature, saw Kachidoki repeatedly striking Sakaki during the duration of the duel, including giving him what medical personnel later confirmed to be a broken nose from a knee to the face. Sakaki also suffered numerous bruises and minor cuts from repeated strikes with a bamboo stick that was a part of the Action Field the two are dueling on. However, the final blow in the duel was delivered by Sakaki, rather than Kachidoki, lifting his opponent up and driving his head and neck into the ground below with a move known as a Piledriver.

Sakaki was treated by onsite medical personnel at the Domino Stadium and is not expected to require further medical attention. Sakaki has also not been made available for comment by Super Junior League General Manager, Johan Andersen. Andersen, who after his duel yesterday became the sole authority in the Super Junior League, had this to say:

"My number one concern right now is seeing to Yuya and Isao's safety. I'll make a full statement after I know for sure what condition the two of them are in. Thanks."

Founder and headmaster of the Ryozanpaku Duel School, Ryozan Godagawa, was not available for comment.

...and in dueling news, it would seem that Ryozanpaku's budding run of dominance in the dueling world, chiefly in the Super Junior League, may be starting to stall out. In the past several days, both the founder of the school, Ryozan Godagawa and one of the school's top students and the reigning Super Junior Champion, Hayate Tendou, have both lost their duels, respectively to former riding duelist Jinn Shrieves and the new Super Junior Champion, Yuzu Hiragi. Before that, the Super Junior Tag Team Champions, Isao Kachidoki and Lan Zheng, had lost their titles as well.

This has already had a noticeable effect on the controversial dueling school. Enrollment in the school, which was going strong right up until the Duel Festival, has notably slowed down to a crawl and some families are even seeking recourse to pull their children out of the school. Sources in Maiami City close to the school have indicated that parents feel that if the founder and top students of the school are not winning duels, then the school's methodology of "winning at any cost" is flawed, and it is not worth dealing with the school's strict rules and controversial methods. Many concerns have also been raised after an emotional outburst from the school's "ace", Isao Kachidoki at the Super Junior League right before the Duel Festival.

On the bright side for the school, one of their students did win under the bright lights of the Duel Festival, Lan Zheng. And Isao Kachidoki, goes into a duel against Yuya Sakaki of Duel Academy and the You Show Duel School tomorrow, on Day 6 of the festival.

Ryozan Godagawa could not be reached for comment on the controversy surrounding his school or the performance of himself and his students during the festival.

And in further news for the Super Junior League, mere minutes after winning the belt, of what we can tell, Hiiragi Yuzu challenged Tendou Hayate to a belt defense match, and crushed her competitor, doubly cementing her position as the new champion.

But it was a rather strange match with Ms. Hiiragi showing off an ability to transform into... well, what we're pretty sure is a Henshin Hero. And used a radically new Deck

[Clip 1: "Yuzu" Activating "Predator Jungle"]

[Clip 2: "Yuzu" Transforming into a Leatherbound Superhero]

[Clip 3: Hayate blowing "Yuzu's" New Monsters away]

[Clip 4: "Yuzu" and Leo Dancer performing a Double Rider Kick]

Mr. Tendou is currently being treated for possible injuries, and has thus far been unwilling to comment on the match, but said "If that was Hiiragi and not some impostor, she's completely gone off the deep end.".

We'll report Ms. Hiiragi's comments on the match as soon as they're available, but her darker, more serious kind of Dueling has polled well with fans immediately after the Duel.

Nippon Professional Dueling has made an announcement regarding two duelists who were suspended last month, Isabel Marias and Timur Vesik.

Isabel Marias' suspension has been overturned and she is cleared to return to action, effective immediately. Meanwhile, Timur Vesik's suspension has been upgraded to a 1-year ban and a 25 Million Yen fine.

The statement from NPD mentioned that "Isabel Marias has cooperated with this investigation at every turn and after consultation with outside firms that are knowledgeable about the supernatural, our conclusion is that the actions of Isabel Marias were more pointed towards ensuring the safety of the NPD audience and personnel in the building that night than putting them in any further danger. Meanwhile, Timur Vesik and Jean-Michel Roget have refused all attempts at contact and have done nothing to refute the accounts of both Isabel Marias and outside experts who claim that any danger was squarely as a result of Timur Vesik's actions. Given this obstinance, the NPD is left with no choice but to ban Timur Vesik from any and all participation in NPD activities."

The ban on Timur Vesik will not go into effect until either Vesik or a representative of his make a statement and pay his fine. Effectively, as long as Vesik and his manager Roget refuse to cooperate with the NPD, the year long ban never actually starts and is, effectively, a lifetime ban. Neither Vesik or Roget have been seen or heard for nearly a couple of weeks, at this point. A representative of the Russian league said they have been in contact with a representative of Vesik's and they have no other comment at the moment.

With Isabel Marias' reinstatement to the league, the NPD was quick to book her at the Duel Festival in a rematch with the champion, Akaba Reiji, in a duel for the Action Dueling World Championship. Part of Marias' contract as the first champion was a necessary 1-on-1 rematch against whoever defeated her to take the championship. The first attempt at a rematch was interrupted almost immediately by Timur Vesik and the next duel was a 3-way involving Vesik, meaning the uninterrupted 1-on-1 rematch between Marias and Akaba will finally take place at the Duel Festival.

When reached for comment via text, Isabel Marias said: "(ノ◕ヮ◕)ノ*:・゚✧"

Nippon Professional Dueling has made an announcement. Following the championship duel for the Action Dueling World Championship last night, both of the challengers, Isabel Marias and Timur Vesik are suspended indefinitely, pending investigation into the events of the duel.

A spokesperson for the NPD said, "Our paramount concern is the safety of our fans. Until we have fully ascertained the truth of the events that occurred last night, both Ms. Marias and Mr. Vesik will be suspended indefinitely. We will work with authorities, private investigators and Ms. Marias, Mr. Vesik and Mr. Roget to come to the truth of what occurred during this duel."

When reached for comment over the phone, Timur Vesik's advocate, Jean Michel Roget said that he is "deeply disturbed" by this "unilateral and highly punitive decision" from the NPD. He strongly implied that if his client's suspension is not rescinded in time for the Duel Festival, they will "take their talents back to the Russian league".

When reached for comment via text, Isabel Marias said: "¯\_(ツ)_/¯"

[LOG]

The 3-way duel between Isabel Marias, Timur Vesik and the Action Dueling World Champion, Akaba Reiji just concluded at the Kaibadome! An event that seemed close to, at times, turning into a disaster for all involved was calmed down by none other than the duelists in the ring themselves, culminating with the champion, Akaba Reiji, retaining his championship by defeating Isabel Marias!

The result aside, many eyes are on the climax near the end of the duel, when both Timur Vesik and Isabel Marias seemed to engage in strange transformations that did not come from any of their cards and were not a result of the Real Solid Vision system...Timur Vesik was helped out of the arena before his advocate, Jean-Michel Roget immediately took him out of the arena to secure private medical treatment. Isabel Marias walked off the field of her own power before requesting medical attention and was taken to a nearby hospital where she is said to be in stable condition. The champion, Akaba Reiji, walked off under his own power after speaking briefly to the audience.

We will comment on any new developments as they arise. As of right now, it is clear that Akaba Reiji's undefeated streak remains intact and he will be the Action Dueling World Champion heading into the Duel Festival, where he will await the winner of the Wonder Quartet event. The rules of the Wonder Quartet are still a closely guarded secret but as of right now it's believed to be a single-elimination tournament...

Nippon Professional Dueling has announced the next defense of the Action Dueling World Championship! In a surprise twist, the announcement will be...a three-way duel between the champion, Reiji Akaba and two challengers, Isabel Marias and Timur Vesik!

This announcement comes as a surprise as, after Vesik's interruption of Marias and Akaba's duel at New Sun Rising, it was believed that punishment in the form of heavy fines and a possible suspension was inevitable for Vesik and his manager, Jean-Michel Roget. The two have been fined by the NPD, but now it seems like Vesik will get exactly what he has wanted since he came to this league from Europe, a shot at the Action Dueling World Championship!

The match is scheduled for the Kaibadome on [x.xx]. The NPD has stated that this will be the last defense of the championship before the Duel Festival. That means whoever wins this duel will be the champion entering the Duel Festival, which is expected to be the largest dueling event in the country since the WRGP.

Dueling analysts had this to say about the match-up...
